For the Fisherman the River Moriston has one of the best runs of salmon in Scotland. Day permits are required which also provide access to a multitude of hill lochs which can be found in the Glenmoriston Estate, where the wild brown trout fishing is superb. There are nearby Salmon and Trout farms and Fishing Boat Trips leaving from Fort Augustus.

The location of The Pole Cottages is ideal for Mountain Biking, behind Aultsigh there is a cycle route running from Inverness to Fort William. For the more extreme cyclists there is the Red Rock trails at Learnie, located 25 minutes North of Inverness with 16km of trails for all skill levels, combined with some of the best views from any mountain bike trails, anywhere! With a whole range of graded trails and a bike park and dirt jump area. It gives a sufficient challenge for those wanting more than just forest road-type mountain biking.

Have a look at what the National Trust of Scotland has to offer; the newly refurbished Culloden Battlefield visitor centre has received rave reviews and is found on the other side of Inverness. Another interesting historic site is Brodie Castle to the North East this 16th-century tower house is packed full of art and antiques and well worth a visit.
